10.5 to tranny. I'm hopping to go bigger this year but it's harder on the kidneys riding a hardtail.

I'm fairly new to the sport and don't have any real drops. But what is the best way to do a succesful drop? And how hard is it on the bikes? Also is it best to have a higher end bike or is it all in the person. Thanks.

its hard on the bike if you land hard

My biggest drop that was successful was somewhere between 15' and 20' to flat. It was in my younger years. I estimate the hight but I was 5'11" at the time and the drop was about tripple over head. It was not intentional (to much speed and cleared the tranny) and I did bend a lot of parts on the bike since it was my bmx bike.

My biggest unsuccessful drop was a 35 footer onto my back last summer. The only ride that year we did not film I guess it was spectacular 'cause I had peole asking me about it that I did not even know and all my buddies thought it was hillarious

Around 3 foot to flat and somewhere around 4 to "tranny" on a trail. It's true though, I don't take measuring tape either. And mine measures in metric units.

Transition. As in, a hill that transitions from falling through the air to riding on flat ground. Feel free to make as many jokes as possible about the other meaning of tranny though, lol
