Chain Suck.... Sucks..
My 2007 Kona Dawg has had an issue with chain suck, the chain getting between the chainwheel and stays since I bought it new. It's been getting worse, and this past week, it's cost me 2 different chains.
I'm not sure why it does this, but I've tried running the chain really tight, loose, in between, it's been cleaned and lubed etc. It's becoming an issue. Anyone have any cheap DIY solutions? or actual fixes to the problem? I tried the ziptie bump stop type thing, and all that did was make it really hard to unsuck the chain. |
Chain guide perhaps?

K Edge Clamp Road Chain Catcher Gun Metal 34 9mm Road Bike Cyclocross | eBay
you could buy on of these. I have there braze on version on my road bike for cheap insurance agianst chain drops. Disregard the following if its a 1x set up . Have you had the front derailur adjusted? The cables housing may have set in resulting in the front derailur haveing to much clearence inward. |
It's not dropping the chain, it stays on the wheel, and I can still pedal, it's getting sucked up on the bottom side of the chain wheel against chain stays.

Is your drivetrain clean? Packed on mus and old grease will cause chainsuck. Next take a file to the back side of your chain rings. From bad shifts and and wear you will get small burs on the inside of your rings. those burs will grab a chain and cause y our problem.
