Online Wheel Builder
I want to have some custom wheels built but I am not sure I trust anyone locally. I want to have Mavic 819 UST Rims laced to King Hubs (I think those are the hubs I want). They need to be V-Brake. Any suggestions?

You don't trust someone local but you're willing to trust someone on the interweb to "hand build" your wheels? Ha.

I would definetly trust a professional wheel builder with years of experience as much if not more than a machine to string together my wheels. I mean seriously, there is a reason people like Gravy Wheels are in business. Use your head.

well, keep in mind with online wheels its going to be a bit pricier, i tried offering my service online to people i knew and yea i got some customers. They did end up paying usually 20-25 extra to cover shipping charges as wheels are not the tiniest of shipments. But i didnt charge them what a normal shop would because this was just people i know and have known for the most part. You can try peter white cycles, hes something like 50 miles from my house, nice knowledgable guy

There was an article in Bicycling many years ago. They purchased wheelsets from several major retailers including Colorado Cyclist. They then equipped several bikes and the group rode from California to Florida.
The only wheelset that stayed straight and required no maintenance was the wheelset purchased from Colorado Cyclist.
I've purchased several handbuilt wheelsets from them. My 3X handbuilt mountain wheels are lighter, stronger, and have outlasted two sets of Mavic Crossmaxs.

How many of you have a set of wheels that have lasted 4,000 miles before the spokes even start to lose tension? Quick trip back to my builder and they are good for another 2 years riding.
Incidentally-Hope Bigun hubs with Mavic EX729 rims 36 spoke. I would have trouble damaging these at any time, but the factory supplied XT hubs with Rhino lites lasted 6 weeks before they needed a rebuild.
If you want a good set of wheels go Handbuilt from a top rate builder. it pays , even in the short run.
