Floating General Mountain Bike Thread II

I just noticed our catchall thread full of junk was locked and unstickied. I decided to open another one since my only topic isn't mountain bike related, but i am appearing to my mountain biking compadres here at BF.net.

In my sig is a link to sponsor me for a ROAD ride (yeah, I know) that I'll be doing in support of cancer research. I do appreciate the donations I've received to date and am only sending out this reminder to those who have thought of donating and haven't got around to it yet.

Gastro, I'm not sure if you were serious or joking about having problem working the internet but if you truly have problems donating hit me up on gmail chat and we'll figure something out. I was thinking you paypal me the funds and I'll make the payment under your name.

And here I thought it was going to be about floating mountain bikes. Sheesh.

On a serious note: yes, let's get behind santiago on this worthy venture.

Thank you. I got the paypal funds and will make the donation on behalf of you right after this post.

I was thinking of doing ride with the Big Dummy. Today I picked my daughters up at school in it and realized something. My road bike weighs something like 18lbs. My big dummy with my daughters and their school bags weigh 180lbs. I was thinking of this as I was huffing and puffing up an incline. I then thought of doing a 200+km ride in that bike (albeit without my daughters on the bike) and decided to take my road bike.

Edit: Donation done on behalf of gastro! Thank you again, gastro.

75mph winds Friday night dropped a good size tree in my front yard. By the grace of God, it fell between houses instead of on my house, my neighbor's house, or his fence.

I never wanted an excuse for one, but got a new Homelite chainsaw Saturday morning for Father's Day. Daggum, I'm sore!

^^ Whoa! Glad your place is OK. Enjoy the saw; always a welcome addition, excuse or no. I wish I had a good excuse to update but my big ol' manual-oiler beast refuses to die .

So I was watching old episodes of The IT Crowd and saw this. Which one of you were in The IT Crowd? (Not me, I don't see any Starbucks holders in there)

Wasn't me (although I have owned that armor).

OK, I read up some on this show and am putting it on my Netflix queue.

Calling '66. Where you at? I'll send you a PM through one of the social networks but if you can get on one of the chats, I'd appreciate it.

^^ Best video I've seen all year. Captures the feel of a stellar course at a rare point in time. Thanks.

Besides the fact that it holds, for me anyway, heavy shadings of European GP MX, ca. 1968 or so.

^^ It's kind of a general, random on- and off-topic catch-all thread to supercede the old thread that got too large and unwieldy. Plus I think santiago was trying to recapture some of the spirit of the TGMBG* in getting some exchanges going again.

* Look it up if you gotta know.

BTW, San Jose del Cabo is damn hot this time of year. Glad I didn't even contemplate bringing a mtn bike here.

Nice! You've already brought your mountain bike in the past?
