Well, I hope I wasn't one of the people bringing the thread off topic, but in my estimation, Wal-Mart has many many facets, all of them BAD. Seems like no matter where someone wants to go with Wally World, whether it's rough facsimiles of MTBs, foreign labor, union busting, etcetera, etcetera etcetera, the ONLY advantage is that it will save you money in the SHORT run. That's as generous as I can be.

Last time I was in wal-mart I was being escorted out by security because I flipped out on a very very ghetto spanish little **** employee. Parents around me were covering their children's ears... ohhh that was a wonderful day.

Sorry, this thread is fairly old I guess, but I saw something today that was disturbing.
I was at Target, and I saw a Schwinn Dualie for 180 bucks, the stinger? The stem was on backwards, with the handhlebars on correctly. Meaning, the handlebars were about 2 inches inside the frame. Yikes.

I have a Huffy F/S bike in my basement right now. The frame is great, everything else just sucks. Used it for a year before the cassette became rusty and broke apart. Going to replace all the parts on it this summer.
P.S. Is it possible to replace the fork and crank on these X-Mart bikes? I really like the frame, suits me perfectly.

It's possible, but you'd have to find something really inexpensive. The frame is not really designed for the kind of abuse you'd be able to dish out if you had a better fork. At some point, you'll find the weak link in the frame, and be left with a decent fork attached to a broken frame.

i think at the heart of it all, it isnt a case of bike fanatics *****ing about shoddy bikes, its just that the quality of cheap bikes is dangerous now, they arent basic cheap bikes, they are cheap bikes imitating the more expensive quality rides if i see a full suspension mtb for like 150-200 AUS im suss suss as hell. I had a major accident because of component failure under normal use when i was young i was injured badly and i still have scars 10 years later, if i were to buy a bike for my child or anyone it will be a quality entry level only.

The duration of riding a better fork on that frame would only probably be a month, until I get my next pay and buy a new frame.

yesterday i was riding my dads "Pro Mountain Climber" and locked up the rear y-type brake. one of the arms bent forward and the pad on that arm fell off. I laughed so hard i got lightheaded. promptly after that i jump on my hardrock comp and did stoppies while thinking of the benifits of disk brakes
