As for the brakes even upgrading to a set of Avid BB7 mechanicals will put you miles ahead of those crappy Hayes MX's and will be MUCH cheaper |
And to acutally answer your question, yes, you can put hydraulics on this bike.
In your situation, avid bb7s would be the best option. |
but don't i have to get the lever because of the the DOT liquid in it for the things to work? and how much do they cost? where can i get it? does it work on the rear brakes?

The Avids people are recommending are mechanical discs (as Raiyn already said). That's why they didn't say you'd need new levers. Yes you can get hydraulic brakes for the rear wheel.
|
Avid BB7's are mechanical discs, no fluid needed.
You don't even need new brake levers, just a pair of calipers/rotors and a disc compatible bike. |
BTW U should do whatever Raiyn says or U will B sorry!! GIVE ME A BREAK. Your a complete gong show, iinstead of lending some good advice which I'm sure you have lots of, being in the industry, you spend more time being a spelling Nazi. Give it up, it got old a LONG time ago. O, K, do, U, C, what I am talking about !!

I do what he is saying. I had a mispelling, switched 2 letters around, is that bad?
|
So what would be the best thing to go with? The BB7 or any of the hydraulic? But do they work better than the ones that I have, because I am looking for the ultimate stopping power.
|
It depends on what you do.
The BB7's are good enough for 98% of the riders out there, but since many people can afford the hydro dics, they pay the extra and get the "better" brakes. I recommend that you just get the BB7's, they will be better than the Hayes mechs that came with your bike, and are powerful enough. BTW, Raiyn is a "spelling nazi" because it is against forum rules to use "AOL'ese" such as: 2 instead of to/too u instead of you etc. He's just trying to enforce the rules, or else this forum would be like so many other out there where every post looks like this: "OMG, mi break on mi bik is brken!!!!111!!ROLFMAO Oh Em GeE?!?!? Wut du i du??? I dnt no wut iz rong!!!" |

Well if it's against the rules, it's against the rules, I didn't know that, so Rainy, I'm sorry, police on, my bad.
|
well, it isn't a huge problem.
But IMO it's better for Raiyn to get to you before a mod does;) |
If you want to type like a 12 year old AOL'er go to the BMX section or MTBR.com's forums. Don't do it around here.
This forum is visited by THOUSANDS of people a day. Some are members, MOST of them are guests who are looking for someplace where they can ask a question and get an intelligent response. "I wud get dat b4 u 4get or ur gunna be srry thx" Is NOT an intelligent looking response no matter how correct the information (once translated) is. You want others to respect your opinions? Type them so anyone can read them not just "ur homies" I don't expect perfect spelling and grammar. Hell half the time I ignore people who can't capitalize (those that irks me too). I hope this clarifies my postion for some of the newer people. :)Have a nice day:) edited: as the post I was replying to was modded out |
