Lately I have been thinking about what I truly like about Mountain Biking. Even though it might sound odd, I think falling is one of the better parts of mountain biking. Its that intense moment right before you fall...all of your adrenaline pumping, and the fact that you have no idea what is going to come next. Sure there are other satisfactions that come..like when you do a hard climb but then when get on top you have a great scenery...or you just have a good ride...but does anybody else get that feeling?
Just wondering

I endoed and had so much adrenaline pumping I couldn't ride. Had to just turn around after that. It's kind of cool to look back and say you crashed hard though.

Sure it's fun to fly through the air, but haven't we learned that the ground does hurt?

Nah,
For me climbing and obstacle courses are the dog's bollocks. Falling tends to be a bi-product of the preceeding two though .

It depends what kind of day I am having, and what is considered a fall. Cuts and scratches are funny, hurting yourself is not. Yesterday it poored, so me and my friends got the little kids old mongoose with no beaks but an awsome back shock out, and were doping of this tiny 1 and 1/5 foot drop out of my garage. LOL it was hallarious though because the grass was completely soaked, tires saoked, no brakes, and you know how slipery wet grass is. No add into the factor a hill on a 45 degree angle about 5 feet out of my garage covered with trees, and if you manage not to hit a tree there is a creek at the bottom waiting for you. It was hallarious, especially when my buddy was at the steepest part of the hill and had to jump over the bars and roll down the hill on his shoulder to stop from riding into the creek. And putting your feet down did nothin, because it was like you were on freshly waxed skis. So dumb and funny.

Let's be clear on this; unless you're a masochist, falling isn't really that much fun...it generally hurts...sometimes a lot and it can put you out of commission for a long time if you fall "just right."
On the other hand, if it weren't for the falls, you'd never have the incredible stories to tell other people out there when they ask you "Where'd you get that scar?" Ultimately, we probably remember our worst falls much more vividly and with more fondness than we do our greatest riding accomplishments; there has to be something wrong with that.

I know i was laughing when i slid out on the wet grass after a dj but that didint hurt so it dosent exactly count. I actually learn from my crashes and asking msyelf what idid wrong then trying to do it right the next time. So sometimes falls are of but it usally hurts!

I took a mighty nice spill just earlier today! I biked to the top of this awesome mountain where the view is just incredible. I rested for a few minutes and began down the same way (it's a wide very rocky dirt path). About 20 yards down I had to navigate a rock garden and my front tire got some air. When it came down, it hit a larger rock and bent one way while the motion of my body was going the other. Down I went. It was pretty frightening, falling face first into the rocks and dirt and as I was sliding face first I was scared that I was going to break my right arm, as it took most of the imact and a lot of the sliding. I stood up, looked at my arm and couldn't believe nothing was broken! I was bloody, muddy, and full of relief that I hadn't broken any bones. My hands, arms, and parts of my legs are scraped up, but I was able to ride the rest of the way down very well. The adrenaline is intense and fun, but I don't especially like dealing with the pain during everyday life. It's a great ride though and I'll be back up that trail in no time (haha ok, I'll give it some time, as my knees, wrists, and hands are sore)

my favorite part is getting home to show the kids the bloody knee, elbows etc... and then the remarkable story of courage and grit in the face of enormous obstacles to make it home

It depends on the fall. A front wheel washout sucks....everytime. Endoing while going 20+ mph downhill provides a much better rush.
The trick is to get up as quickly as possible and continue riding before the pain and thought processes kick in.

It's a whole different story falling before 50 versus after 50 (and I'm not talking about mph), even if your body reacts perfectly, given the circumstances, and even if you walk/ride away from it. It's a lot worse after 50. Trust me.
