Is this a decent bike? Which one to choose!

I am mainly going to be on the road, not much off roading, but these seem like a great deal. I want to just be able to get some exercise and loose a little bit of weight. I honestly am having a harder time at this than I thought I would. I am leaning towards the diamondback....

SCHWINN 4.0 SRAM S-30 7005 ALUMINUM

Diamondback bike

thx,
Rose

Do NOT get the Schwinn. If he paid $700, it is probably not a Walmart, but the cheap suspension will not be useful and just add weight.

The diamondback looks good, but you'll want to replace the tires with ones better suited for the road. Are you sure this bike is your size?

+1

Having ridden a similar suspension for grins once, I determined that it's mostly just for looks.

In her ad, she states she is 5' 8" and it fits her really well. I am also 5' 8"...she may take $60. I am awaiting her text. I think she's at work.

So I tested the DB. When I pedal, it feels kinda warped? Lopsided? When I cruised it was fine...???what could that mean? I held off and am going to a small local used bike store Weds.

If not stick to your local bike shop...

Typical story....
A new rider has $150 for a used bike..
He or She takes it home...
Most older bikes need 2 tires, 1or 2 cables, a chain and cassette.
Now your at $300 If you can do the work..you pay a shop your at $400

A good Entry level Trek NEW that will hold up starts at $439 plus tax..
Warranty.free adjustments....The shop support alone Is well worth the coin....
Mountain biking Is hard on tired old bikes.....follow me ?

I've seen cheap new bikes fold on day one under a new rider....many times...

Ok, so I spoke to a pal of mine who KNOWS bikes (He used to work on them for a living). We live in diff states, so we had a long talk. I passed on the DB and the newer Schwinn. I went to the LBS and saw a bunch of bikes. I fell for a Schwinn Traveler for $80 out the door. Ya know, it isnt PERFECT - but it had little to nothing wrong with it and he even gave her chain a good cleaning and checked the tires and gave it a good look over before I left with it. Its a shop where I can learn how to work on my bike if I want.

Noe I just need a proper water bottle cage...anyone know where I can get one?

Ok all, I have a chance at a diamondback wildwood deluxe for $50...I know the Schwinn is "good enough", but isnt the DB a bit better of a hybrid bike? He took the tires it came with off and put really nice hybrid tires on it. Only prob is that its 1 1/2 hours away...he may be willing to meet me 30 min away at his parents.

Did I really make a good purchase...should I get the db? I for some reason really want the db...

thx folks!

Same points from me. I bet the saddle is extra-comfortable But where you gonna attach the bottle cage?
I would just go with some 500 mountain bike. Diamondback are always solid and I think that the next Schwinns. But I can also be wrong because the marketing is totally different.
