Egg Beaters
I just a set of Crank Brothers Egg Beaters yesterday and tried them out. Anyone else ever use them?
|
I won a pair - I'm planning on trying them out this weekend!
How do you like them? I'm a faithful frog rider..... |
I've had mine for a couple of months. They're great unless you need to get out really quick and don't have the wherewithall to pull your feel out in the right direction - something I had to get used to after riding loose spds for two years. I've done a couple of supermans with the bike  which is not fun. But otherwise, they're great - very easy to get into once you get used to them - and they have a great feel.

I have never used them, but MtnBikerChk has a pair that I plan on stealing once she gets sick of them. :D
|
2 pair - one pair on my MTB, one pair on road bike. I have about 1,500 miles combined this year with Egg Beaters.
Pros - light, cheaper than TIME or Shimano, best mud-shedding possible, 4-sided entry, secure, durable. Cons - not adjustable. Simply an amazing pedal. |
I've been an SPD user for the past 10-11 years, and I am very impressed with the Eggbeaters. This is why I started this thread.:D

I just saw some for the first time the other day - I haven't ridden for quite a while, and even then it was only fire trails...:(
They look very interesting, but I am a little suspicious (although my experience extends to SPD's only) about the ease of location for novice riders, such as myself. Clipping back in after getting/falling off is always awkward for the less experienced, and I think I would stay with my, albeit heavy, platform SPD's for now. If I become really hardcore, and lose like maybe 3 stone in weight (I am a spectacular 15st/96kg) :D I may go for some... Duncan |
I think when my Times pack up, I'll go for a pair :)
They look excellent for mud sheding |
I have had my Eggbeaters for about 3 months now, got them because my stock 515's were a death-trap. I really can't find any flaw. The release is smooth and consistant, predictable always.
I have had to pedal uphills with 1 foot in before, and I found that I had plenty of platform to ride up the hill. |
