Modifications for my Felt?

Hi everyone, I own a Felt g20 mountain bike. I have severe scoliosis which makes it hard to stay bent down on the handle bars, and I'd like to modify them to make them easier to reach.

I'm not doing serious mountain biking, the most I do is the root trails but most of this bike's use is on the rail trails or on the road when it's muddy.

I've had some people tell me to put ape hangers on it (which I am vehemently against), I've also considered a higher neck. I'm not sure what I want to do as of now though.
