Time in the Saddle
On a 'normal' (for you) downhill, how much time do you spend with your ass actually on the saddle? I figure about 20% for me.

On what would be considered a "downhill track" in Ireland, the saddle is dropped and I am not in the saddle at all! But our downhills are relatively short so arm pump etc., doesn't get excessive.
On steep xc trails, the saddle stays up all the time, cause if you can't ride them without a dropper then well... |
I hear you about shorter downhills - and sitting into a berm. Our downhills are pretty long and I find I occasionally get a bit fatigued standing (may also have something to do with being over 60!). But I hit the 'Technogrind' yesterday and figured I was between 10 - 20% in the saddle on the way down.
Before full suspension I was almost always standing on the way down. After FSR I felt I got a bit lazy and would sit a bit more. I've been concentrating on getting out of the saddle more once again and it seems to be working. Interesting to contemplate what distant rides must be like! |
Wow 60 and still doing downhills? I did the Devil's Den a couple times. That place has everything for a mountain biker.
