All Mountain Bike Questions...

All Mountain Bike Questions...
Those who pay attention to usernames know that I am frustrated with being unable to do jumps and drops on my GF Wahoo.
I think an All-mountain bike is the way to go (after I get a job...)
I like GF bikes a lot, and feel a difference from any others I have ridden.
I am, however, open to other ideas.
I am looking at the Sugar 4+, and the Cake 4, and Cake 4 DLX.
Which of these bikes will handle jumps better, and which will be most efficient on road/smooth trails??
Any other All-Mountain suggestion or frames that can be had cheap??

If your going to be jumping a lot I would look for something a bit beefier.You might look into a Kona Coiler.

Does the Trek Bruiser have good geometry for XC and road use??

Yes. The Bruisers are great for just about everything. If you're looking for an amazing All mountain bike, get a Norco Charger, they're amazing bikes.

The Kona Dawg would be my choice in the all mountain category. Very beefy frame (suspiciously similar to the Coiler from the swingarm forward), 5" of travel, propedal, and a company that knows what they are doing with full suspension... GF has yet to prove to me they know what they are doing. Trek is ok, but in my opinion a poor value for the money on nearly every model. Don't even get me started on the Cake. Ever see how spindly a Cake's swingarm is? Or how high high the toptube is? Not my choice for agressive riding.

if you want a good cheap trail/all-mountain bike, i'd stick to hartails rather than duallies. they're cheaper and will be better to ride xc on cause you don't have the travel in the back soaking up some of your pedalling power.
if you're looking for a dually though, as mentioned the kona dawg would be a good choice. the coiler isn't too bad either and is a bit more freeride oriented than the dawg. ironhorse makes some pretty good all-mountain bikes that can be bought for cheap - the hollowpoink/mkIII. there's also the specialized enduro, which has gotten rave reviews... the norco fluid is another pretty decent all-mountain rig. i'm loving mine and have used it for pretty much everything. it's a bit heavier than a lot of the others coming in at 30+ lbs stock, but that's a common trait with norco bikes.
