First ride, First fall, First bruise, baptism by fire !
I went for my first ride on my new Giant Trance 3 @ Mount Fromme. I am usually a road rider. I decided I could use some distraction on certain days. It is also good cardio for climbing.
I thought I was in shape but the first climb to get to Bobsled on Mount Fromme got me. I had to stop a few time on my way there. It is so much easier to pedal on the road. I also don't have a cadence or power meter on the bike. I am so used to having that data when I ride, it was in a foreign country.
I think I road most of the bobsled ride with heavy breaking except on certain section. I wanted to go very slow and get acquainted with the layout. I managed to get until the end without any incident. The last drop got me, I locked the break, it's a tight turn, I was an idiot. my weight was a little too much in front and I went over the bar. Fortunately, I was at very low speed. I just have a small bruise on my tibia and an aching shoulder. I should be fine in a couple of days.
I think I might have chew just a little to much for a ride on a brand new bike. I have a park nearby called the Watershed park when I can get more familiar with the bike before I try this again. Oh and I need a dropper post and some pads. It will be next on my list of upgrade. I went home after the first loop as I knew I was just a little bit overhead and I didn't want to injured myself even more. Lesson learned here.

Nice trance. I have a 2016 trance 3. I also wouldnt mind a dropper. The giant dropper is a good price and i read quite reliable.
I ended up cutting about 2 inches off my post just to drop my seat that extra bit.
That little frame kink doesnt allow for the post to go down very far imo

Droppers are the best MTB accessory since suspension. Don't need the best, but get one.
And, riding DH slowly is almost a guaranteed way to crash. Learn to trust the bike.
