Conversion??

Hey, my dad has a really nice GT hardtail but he wants full suspension. Is it possible to convert a hardtail to a full suspension or should he just get a whole new bike?

Well, I suppose it'd be possible but would take LOADS of money, welding, and god knows what else to create a really bad FS frame. Just get a new bike/frame.

Duct tape
J.B. weld
an old shock from a '71 pinto.

Only if he's looking for comfort. That thing will never match the performance of a decent FS rig

There was a kit made years ago that still pops up on ebay once in a while. It adds about 2 or maybe 3 inches of travel, and only weighs 6lbs or something ridiculous like that. So yeah, if you want some early 90's technology, that's the way to go. Now, if I was building a chopper or recumbent trike, that kit would be on the top of my list.

Transform it into a new bike! Of course, you're kind screwed if you want parts for your custom bike...

Or get a new one.
