Standover height

I'm riding a Hardrock Sport disc Large size and am curious of whether my standover height is safe. I'm 5'9". I only have about an inch of it. I've heard that a minimum of 3 inches is best when doing the off road trails like I frequent. The bike feels comfortable so I personally don't mind it. But I am curious of everyone else's standover height? My seat doesn't seem to extend as high as many I see out there and wonder if I may not be leaned over enough. But if it feels comfortable, does it really matter? Thanks and let me know.
