Pick a fork (RS vs Magura)

I'm not up to date on hardly anything that's come out in the last 15 years. I have a new bike, it's a 26 with q/r and I want to replace the 100mm XC28. Not racing or anything, I just ride hard and want to lighten the front end up.

Two choices, both are @ 1400g w/ tapered steerers:

Magura TS8 R100 $440

RS Sid XX Solo Air $400

And for a total newb question, my frame has a tapered HT with integrated headset (currently has an adapter for a straight steerer tube). I assume I would need one like this?

For headsets, start with the Cane Creek Headset finder:

I'm thinking you might need only the crown race. That's probably a $15 item. When I ran a straight-tube fork on a tapered frame, it was the crown race on the fork that was extra wide to accommodate the tapered headset. When I switched to a tapered fork in the same frame, all I did was to install an appropriate crown race on the new fork.
