What Model is this Trek?

I am thinking about purchasing this bike for fall/winter commuting. Before I do I want to research it some more but the person selling does not know the model. Any help is appreciated!

I think I posted it originally on the wrong forum. Sorry!

Well its abit older because no disc mounts on frame.
My guess is an older 4300 at best. The nicer frames like an 8500 had a stamp on the wishbone which im pretty sure the lower frames didnt get. The stickers kinda look a little suspect but if its a trek headbadge i wouldnt question its a trek otherwise.
Looks like someones project flip and if it runs well and the price is right, could be a good comuter, light xc kinda bike.
Mismatched breaks. Mismatched wheels.
Giant stem.
Basic tires.
Rear wheel looks like its even older. I cant see if its a 7 or 8 speed but if its a freewheel that a dealbreaker for me regardless.
Pending what the price is, my guess is they most likely have some wiggle room.
