How tall do you need to be to ride a Diamondback release 1?

I Am thinking of buying a diamondback release 1 for my 12 year old son. He is about 143 cm. But on Diamondbacks site the smallest size is for those who are 162 cm. So My question is; can you take the saddle down to fit my son?

You can slam a saddle as low as you want, cutting the post if need be (it if bottoms before it's low enough). The bigger issue is the stand-over height. Check their specs and measure your son in bare feet from floor to crotch. He should have 2-3 inches clearance, more if on trails as sudden dismounts are a possibility.
