my vote is in....
I'm afraid it is a bit late for a fatbike forum since MTBR already gave them a good home. But never too late to try

Yeah, they are not real mountain bikes. Get them out of here.

Since it seems to be growing in popularity, we were considering making it's own section! But I'd have to have a lot of interest in order to do that. So let everyone know to come on here and vote!
PS: I'm a "she"

We had done a poll before about 1.5 years ago and there were maybe 3 people interested. So we didn't do it. But I do need to prove to the bosses that it's wanted. I really need more votes than this so be sure to spread the word!

I think that's a pretty strong indicator.

The mountain bike forum barely gets any traffic. I don't see the need to slice and dice any finer.

I really can't understand why someone would make the effort to come on this thread and vote 'no'. If they can have a forum for Fixed Gear and Fixed Gear Freestyle???

I'm just picking on you.... no offense, not personal. I sometimes post in the wrong forum too. The general forum lives by a vicious cycle. Because it has more traffic, people tend to post there. Because more people post there, it has more traffic.

I was on a commuter bike though. So maybe the commuter forum?

A phat yes from me too.
As I mentioned in another thread, what's the harm in trying out a Fat Bikes section and see how it goes for a while? I think it will be popular, particularly the pictures thread that I can envisage in my mind's eye!

Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Several years ago I thought fatbikes were just a silly niche bike, then my sister-in-law got me on one. I was seven years old again. They're just wonderful. Living here in Minnesota, it allowed me to sell my trainer and ride through the winter. Can't imagine not having one in my stable.

I think you'd still get fat tire topics in the Mountain Bike forum where it's relevant.

MTBR sliced itself into too many sub-forums, and now I find it much less useful. I don't see the point unless a sub-forum is getting so much traffic that topics get quickly buried.
If you ask me, this BF has way too many sub-forums as it is for the size of its membership.
I understand the intuitive urge behind further specialization, but unless a forum is already too busy, splitting it up makes each one less valuable. If you have a question on either board, you have now cut down the number of people who will see it.
I am curious what exactly people who want a separate Fat Bike board feel it will gain them?
But whatever, do what you want.

Lisa said we'd get his & hers fatbikes when we got home. Now, I put more damn miles on that bike, in fact, I'm going out the door for the first snowy/icy ride of the season.

BTW - I put Woodchippers on my Pugsley for gravel grinding and adventure riding
