Cannondale V400 Find

Just found one of these at one of the local dig spots. I will get some pics up as soon as I clean it. Pretty dirty. The ribbed rubber suspension sleeve between the head and the fork has a tear. Otherwise it's in nice shape. Rusty chain, but not completely rusted. Looked for damage to the frame couldn't find any but one spot where the paint is a little flaky. But no damage there.
Anyway when I get it cleaned.........

Had a SuperV Carbon. Thought I was done with mountain bikes and stupidly sold it...

Cleaned, put air in the tires, and road it five miles last night. Neat little bike. I put some electrical tape around the fork "SOCK". It will have to stay that way for now. Although it will drive me nuts. Not sure if I would keep this or not since a I have an 09 Cobia. One thing I do really like about it is how upright I am. Very maneuverable.
I guess I will find a Santa Cruz in another 15 years for a couple bucks. The only problem is I am on the other side of 50. Hopefully I will be 85 and still riding.....

That Super V C
arbon sounds like it could be a good quality budget bike. I only buy on the fly.

98,99 or 2000? And what is the largest size wheel this bike will accommodate?

There are plenty of outdated bikes to certain folks on this site. The ones that want to pay $5000 for something that gives them enjoyment and donate it 10 years later is fine with me.

Nice Cannondale, crazy that bike is almost vintage. If there is a tear in the boot you are going to need to make sure everything is okay with the internals.

It's fine. They are well known for having tear issues. Cannondale made the boot out of some really flimsy rubber. My electrical tape job is neat, and discreet.
I paid a a good ole' days price for this bike. I don't know how long or if any of you have been digging for a while, but it was bargain city a while back. ON EVERYTHING.
Not that way anymore.
I will wait for my Santa Cruz. What I really want is a Surly Crosscheck. What I really want is C$SH!

okey dokey

Why did you buy the Cannondale if there are at least three things you want more?

Depends on the bike. Most of them are worthless. Bet I can get a couple hundred for that bike. Or very close to it. You guys definitely aren't re-sellers. The V has quite a following.

And please, give me your old MTB.

I generally just give an “attaboy!” when someone finds a bike they like that gets them riding.

But if you are going to get cocky about it, I’ll tell you what I really think of it.

Still confused - you bought a bike you don’t really want and you are asking about upgrades?
