Small back packs
so you MTBers don’t use rear racks & trunks but use small back packs? Where do you get them & if someone were to explore this option, would should they look for? Features/benefits you have & like or wish you had?
& how do you deal with fall winter riding when you wear more clothing up top
was at Walmart exploring the option cpl weeks ago and almost bought one

There are many cycling specific backpack options. Fanny/hip packs are also back in style. My choice changes depending on length/purpose of the ride.
Bikepacking has presented us with many new and different baggage options also.
In the winter I sometimes wear my outer coat over the backpack to protect from the elements.
My first choice for purchasing is always the LBS and far after that online.
What kind of riding are you doing?

I don't use a backpack often but when I do I take my Osprey Raptor that I've had for several years. The come in different sizes but I bought the smallest one, 10 liters I think. What I much prefer is a frame bag because I don't have to take it on or off,it keeps weight off my back (and ass) and it keeps my back from getting sweaty Look at Revelate Designs for a good selection of well designed frame bags. Both the Raptor and Revelate I own are designed to hold a hydration bladder as well. I never use one on the backpack but you'll find one in my frame bag pretty regularly when it's hot out.

Take a look at Shimano Unzen I have an Unzen 6, and it's excellent.
You'll definitely have to shop around-- the price range online is just nuts.
