Front suspension on a 2017 Aspen.

I currently own a 2017 Aspen Super Sport bike and it is extremely unreliable, but I love it. I love the style, the off-road capability, and how much fun it can be, but there are issues with it. The biggest of those problems is the front suspension. The suspension has cheap chrome plastic-like material covering the metal in the shocks, but it constantly slides down, locks and unlocks after a couple days of no use, and has suspension adjusters that spin forever. Does anyone know what to do about these problems?

I don't think you're gong to have much luck finding help here. I did a little research and that bike is from china by a furniture company https://www.primointernational.com/ with knockoff sunrace components. it's a giveaway product when you buy furniture as far as I can tell. That's a self branded fork and at that price point, the dials are likely decoration. I'd ride it until it falls apart or becomes unsafe then buy a better bike. It's not worth investing anything in that bike.

Thank you.

Thank you for the info! I knew it was a giveaway bike because that is how I got it, But I was not sure about the knockoff components.

I think that whole bike is unsafe right from the day it was new.

What I did was go to source for sports and asked them to redo the suspension and the shifter and they did not dissapoint me so I reccomend you just swap out the forks cause the stock forks suck.

We had a couple of Aspen's at our local bike coop. Both were disasters. On a par with big box store bikes. "Not intended for stunt or off road riding" Best to just junk it and look for a decent bike. One owner had to change nearly every part on it just to keep it rolling as an city commuter. After a couple months he got a better bike. Not built for trail use at all.

From what I've seen watching other mechanics working on these bikes, they are actually worse than most big box store bikes, despite looking a tiny bit more like a quality bike. The stems are known for failing.

I'd consider replacing the stem and fork if you have a coop or other means for inexpensive, reliable parts since front end failures can be catastrophic.

They put the style in to make it resemble an old Trek more than a current Walmart. I like how the head tube is pretend tapered
