Vintage GF hand grip help?
3 Attachment(s)
Came to the experts for help as I'm strictly a vintage road bike guy who just picked up a 91 Gary Fisher Montare at a low price.
Researched before buying, so knew about the seat tube/braze on tab issues, the 1 1/4" HS and non standard BB, so checked her out carefully using a strong light & magnifying glass. Plan an overhaul and restoring the paint as possible. Already have a nice saddle on the way, but the handgrips (which I like) are shot. Only thing found so far is these by WTB: Also everything I find is listed as 130 mm. Is this the O.S, diameter? Anyone know if the original grips are still available? Thanks, Don |
The 130 mm is the length of the grip. I like 140-145 mm myself. 130 is too narrow. Do you just want a silicon grip that is round? Look at ESI's offerings. They might be a good match to those stock grips in the photos.

I thought « GF » meant girl friend . . . . |
Thanks all. I was looking for a hexagonal cross section, vs the usual round ones. Those Ritchey's will do nicely, like the outside ends.
As to the "GF". She is vintage *and a classic*. So I married her back in 1960! Best move I ever made. Almost lost her to Pneumonia a few years ago and she's now a long term cancer survivor on the mend. I'm the care giver, & mostly home bound, so always on the look out for worthy projects in my work shop. Don |
