SXL Ganbei - Anyone Ever Heard of These?
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to get a decent mountain bike in the $200-$300 range. I ran across a bike called the SXL Ganbei for $199. Apparently, they are having a "mystery sale" where you know the model and size, but not the color until it arrives. It seems that this company is known for their fixed gear bikes, but can't find much about them online. I was wondering if anyone had heard of this company or model. I don't need anything hardcore. This will mostly be a bike to ride around the neighborhood, but would also like to have some off-road capability in case I want to take it around one of the local trails.

Never heard of it. And without specs we can't even help you know if it would be capable of anything off road. Blind buying a bike is risky, you may be better off just going to a wallmart and grabbing one site seen.

I still say the same thing. Unless you can see and touch the bike (or they are a high end direct sell manufacturer) then I wouldn't touch it.
Have you checked out pinkbike.com for any used bikes. It may be well worth getting something a little older that used to be higher quality. 200 to 300 should get you something decent.

The one good thing that leaps out at me is that the wheelset uses a cassette rather than a freehub. I consider that a plus. The geometry looks old school. Fork will be heavy (5.6 lbs on Suntour's site). The parts are low-end. For the price tag, the parts are probably a fair value but the bike is not one I would personally be happy with.

Like JG said above... decent part spec for the price, but it is a very low price point and all very low end.
