why I like My LBS

I put my bike in the shop for this terrible grinding/squeaking noise on the sprocket side of the crank. while it was there they tuned it,washed it, cleaned the tires, and ordered the part ( bottom bracket is going bad) for NO charge. the part is under warranty but they went so far over the call of duty and this is their busy season too. the owner of the shop did the bracket work!!!. the part will arrive Tues. and they made it rideable until then.I informed them that I was going to the real mountains the week of July 4th so they made extra sure it was in tip top shape. I found some stuff cheaper online but I buy from them when I can( I found some 04 ATAC carbon pedals for [email protected] Jenson USA so I couldnt pass that up) even if its a bit more($10 for a bike bell vs $2 at Xmart $65 for Canari Matrix vs$40 online, etc.) because of things like this service I got. I would ask for anyone who has had an above average experience in their local bike shop to add their reply here.

My favorite is not the most local of LBSs, but in any case.

Fit to Be Tried bikes in Sanford, NC is a really kickass shop. I'd go there more often, if it weren't a 35 mile drive. There are a couple shops here in Fayetteville that are pretty good, nothing too stellar, but good shops. Hawleys I like better than the Bicycle Shop - I go to Hawleys for most of my basic bike needs, but use the Bicycle Shop for service on my NRS (they're the area Giant dealer).

FTBT however, is where I got my Vela. The owner/operator of the shop does sales, offers lifetime service on all the bikes, and works on 'em too. Very helpful, friendly, and gives great individual attention. Just tries harder than the shops here in Fayetteville, and that made the difference, as I could have gotten the Litespeed at several other area shops.
