Brakes started howling in the rain...

2016 StumpJumper Elite 650b.
Got stuck in an absolute monsoon downpour yesterday while on a ride in central FL. Lots of sand and water. Since the drenching my brakes have begun howling. Are the brake pads ruined?

Disc brakes I'm assuming? Normal for discs to howl when they're wet or damp. Once they dry out it usually stops.
Check your pads surfaces and also the rotors.

Change your disc pads every 200 miles and you won't have this problem.

Sometimes they howl, yeah. Dry or wet.

When I’m done rollin’, I use a cloth to very quickly clean my discs. Stay away from oil!

However, when the howling happens more frequently and you feel like your braking power is less, you’d definitely want to check those pads though.

I went from stock BB7 pads to Kool Stop Organic compound , and they were quiet..

Slow transportation riding , in the rain, not on the beach, so no big issue with sand..

Ocean shore is 10 miles away/..
