brakes
I was just reading the post "switching vbrakes to cantilevers".
I want to know, not as an insult or anything, why one would actually want to switch to cantilevers? How do they compare to v-brakes?

Weed Eater said in his post it was to change to drop-bar compatible levers. V-brakes require greater cable pull than cantilevers, and the road component standard is still for the short pull brakes.
AFAIC, center pull cantilevers can be set up more powerfully that V's, simply because there is some choice in the angle of cable pull.
But that said, I hated cantis. I hated setting them up. I hated adjusting the pads. I hated futzing with cable angle. V's on the other hand -- there are no choices to be made, just set them up and go. Dead simple, consistant performance.
