2005 iguana

Hi all!

So someone broke into my house and stole my bike among other things...

I was at the bike store today and I really liked the '05 Iguana. What do you guys think about it? weaknesses? They will give it to me for $530

I use to have an iguana. He was great. His name was Bleep. He wouldn't try to run away or anything.
Thanks

A decent bike for trails and light xc. The 2006 models are due out or already out you might be able to push harder on price if they have a few in stock. Did you ride it?

Yeah I rode it, I mentioned to the guy that the '06's are coming out soon and he told me it was a good price where it is at ($530). So I didn't push the subject since I wasn't ready to buy at that moment. What is a fair price to try to get out of him with the '06's coming out in mind? (Wish I could afford the trek 6500)

The '06 shouldn't be out until October or so and $530 is a good price for that bike. You will really like it.

Seriously, it probably comes down to frame fit. Get the one that "feels right".

I am also looking to purchase another mountain bike, but noticed Giant went away from the Avid Mechanical brakes in favor of the Hayes MX-2. Can someone please comment on the Hayes brakes, because I love my Avids.

They suck ass, but they're cheaper (and still disc brakes from a "known company") which is why Giant went to them. I'd swap in the Avids you have and put the MX2's on the old bike (if you plan to get rid of it that is)
