Industry 9 wheels worth it?
I'm looking at building a mountain bike. Well I already have the frame, and shocks. So now to the wheel set. Are industry 9 wheels worth the cost? I really do like the additional 'bling' they offer. I'm wondering if there is anyone here with a bit of experience?

People that I have spoken to love them, but also haven't ridden tons of hubs. I don't think you can go wrong with them. Do you have the rims and spokes yet?

My priorities would be reliability, PoE, weight and cost. But if yours is bling, I guess they will be worth it to you.

Im just wondering if they are worth it. If they are good stiff rims a little bling isn’t bad as I have money to toss |
Seen and handled multiple wheels and they've all been nice with the owners having no complaints, I worked with someone who is still at a high end mtb shop and its their preferred prebuilt wheelset. I've got no personal experience though.

I'll respond as someone who has a few sets of older Torch I9 hubs. They are great, sound wonderful, if that's what you want, and well made. They are my single speed setups, but unfortunately cracked the rear shell on one, too much power according to my buddies, lol. This isn't the first hub I've cracked so it could be me...
I also have Chris Kings, Hadleys, Hopes, XTRs, and bunch of other sets right now. Personally for price and quality I favor Hadleys, they have the bling factor, exceptional build quality and don't scream like I9s and CKs. Hopes are worth looking at if you want colors but budget minded. I'm not a weight weenie so the fancy lightweight models aren't really for me. If you really want colors but the Hopes are still out of budget visit the Bikehub store. They make high quality hubs at very reasonable hubs. If you like quiet, nothing like the Onyx hubs, but they are even more than I9s. As for rims, I've had no personal experience. A few of my friends have the wheelsets and they look fine, nothing unique. Are you looking for carbon or AL? |
