Wrist pain...

Hey all-

I have had bad wrists for 3 years now due to factory work and being a computer science major. I spend 80% of my day in front of a computer. I have a stock cannondale F300, and I've been getting sore wrists from it. Not really bad, but I'm wondering what I can do to help it before it gets bad. I'm currently not using any gloves, so what would be a good pair to get? Since it's HOT here lately, was looking to get the half hand style gloves. Also, how should my wrists be positioned? I read in another thread (think it was more for road biking) that there shouldn't be a bend in my wrists at all, that my arms should be going straight into my hands with no angle.

Any advice?

I prefer half gloves myself not so much for the heat in South Florida, but more for the tactile feedback my barefingers have over gloved fingers. I use gloves with gel padding in the palms. The particular ones I use have two pads in the palms, one for the heel of your palm and one across the base of your fingers. The gap in between allow a high degree of flex. Not sure what the palms are covered in although it's pretty tough (saved my palms a number of times), but the backs are a terry cloth material good for wiping sweat out of your eyes.

Check them out here: https://www.serfas.com/gloves/SRXGB.html

As for hand position, when the going is easy such as pavement riding I relax my grip and rotate my hands to straighten my wrists out and carry the handlebars in the crook of my thumbs. When the going requires a higher degree of control I tend to adopt a more aggresive grip.
