Front Shock setting

Hello everyone. I was recently surprised with a gift of a mountain bike from the wife. She got me a new GT Aggressor Pro 27.5 from Dick's Sporting Goods. I took for it for a quick test ride around the block and it felt good. So I was going over everything and doing some internet researching about the bike. I was watching a video about the front coil shocks about adjusting them. It said to adjust them evenly between both sides. How do I know if they're even, the knobs at the top don't mirror themselves.(/ - -) Is there a way I can turn them all the way down or up to the limits and then adjust from there?

Don't worry about it, those preload knobs don't 'adjust' anything. You can turn them to the limit and nothing will change.

prj71 - that's the video I seen and is reason for my question.

cxwrench - thanks, I'll mess around with them and see what happens. I'm not planning on doing anything drastic, just more cruising with the kids.
