Great thing about working in a shop...bikes are a pretty good deal. This one was an insane deal. The other good thing about being a shop mechanic are the 'spare' parts that are usually laying around. Like this XTR caliper and BL-MT400 lever. The bleed port threads were stripped on the lever, easy fix. Also put on a Box stem and Anvil bar. And of course our custom shop logo Lizard Skins grips. Oh yeah, Bontrager Line Pro pedals from when I worked for Trek. Everything else is stock, Marin labeled wheels, cheap ass Samax crank, Vee XCV tires, KMC half link chain, Pivotal saddle/post, and X-Fusion Slant RC fork. This bike is stupid fun...makes getting air for an old guy easy. It weighs dead on 25.0lbs.

Not too shabby! I love those parts build with XTR and stuff like that. My knock around hybrid has an XTR shifter and XT rear derailleur from the parts bin and got gifted the Surly Moloko bars on it.

I was curious, watching the Olympics BMX freestyle, what their bikes weigh. They looked like pretty solid chromoly frames. I've seen a trials video where the guys say they don't like a too light bike because they expect it to have a certain heft when they're flinging it.

Yeah, I think the freestyle bikes are heavier, the ones I see are usually around 30lbs. They really need to be bullet proof.

There was one guy who had an imperfect run and knew he was out of contention and he shot his bike up the ramp. Not in a poor sport kind of way, it was more like a kiss goodbye. It flew what looked like fifty feet and... was fine
