Howdy folks, was hoping to upgrade from the stock pedals on my Co-Op DRT. I ride reasonably aggressively and my feet will occasionally slip off/get bounced off the stock pedals. The key thing for me is the pegs - I like them sharp enough to cut your calf/shin when they collide. I've found on rental bikes that these give a grip that really works for me. The pedal itself I don't care as much about, don't need fancy aluminum alloy or anything like that. So, any recommendations? Was hoping for $50 or so, less is good too of course...

Thanks guys. Browsed on amazon for these and noticed a cheaper knockoff brand called Fooker. Anybody know if those are any good? or am I better off spending the extra dough for Race Face?

RF Chester pedals are around $35 (?) ... not going to find a decent pedal for too much less than this

+1 for the Chester's; they're pretty much the go-to 'budget'-upgrade

PNW Components makes some nice stuff, if it's a little bit $$$, but they're having a sale right now. The "Range" composite is $35; needle/roller bearings, lots of colors.

Deity Deftraps are my favorite at pretty much any price. ~$50. Massive platform and very flat with no axle bulge in the middle.

Thanks, I ordered a pair of these. Price was right and I liked the fact they had 11 pins instead of the standard 8.

Fooker is a fake knockoff. No need to buy that stuff and support those fake companies making knock off goods. That is something that needs to stop and we need to stop supporting it. There are tons of cheap pedals made by actual brands that are designing their own products. Chesters are popular but I would go Crank Bros Stamps. I love my Stamp 7s and was very happy with their customer service when I had a warranty issue which they solved with little stress or hassle.

I bought a set of Bontrager Line Elites when I picked up my bike. 50 bux and they seem solid. Just an FYI for other thread viewers as I see the OP opted for the Chesters. They have held up to some solid riding and a few rock and stump hits and have held up fine.

Saving on pedals is a compromise one should not do lightly. After all, those are half of the contact points between the rider and the bike. Investing a bit more, and reaching for proper pedals like DMR Vault, Burgtec Penthouse MK5, or Unite Instinct is money well spent.

Finally took my first ride with the PNW pedals, did 15 miles at my local singletrack today. Fantastic upgrade, night and day over the stock pedals. Much larger surface area for your foot plus lots of super sharp grippy pegs. Thanks for the recommendation!
