Recommended LBS in LA area?
Hello all, I'm new to these boards and thankful for the wealth of information shared.
I am looking to get started on an MTB, haven't rode a bike regularly since high school (13 yrs ago). Thanks to the sub-$500 thread and some other posts I think I have my choice down to a Hardrock or a Rockhopper but that remains based on the fit and feel when in person.
What I'd like to know from the Los Angeles based people is what is their favorite LBS (with MTBs specifically)? I searched and found a couple of posts but going through the 10 shops I compiled, most seem highly road bike-oriented. The only two names I currently have are Helen's Cycles and Wheel World, but they seem a little on the larger side of things.
From snowboarding and paintballing, I've found that the smaller shops seem to give you better service, honest impressions of the equipment and I enjoy showing them my loyalty. I'm thinking that it's much the same with cycles. Thanks in advance for the help!

Helens right there in Westwood was good a few years ago, I have not been there for a while but they do/did have good customer support. There is also a Helens in Marina Del Rey and their main local is in Santa Monica (best selection of their shops). I. Martin is good but over priced. Wheel World in Culver City would probably be your best bet. Very good selection, knowledgeable staff (for the most part) and customer friendly. Only a 15 min drive straight down Sepulveda or 5 min on the 405 if no traffic but that is asking a lot
If you want to venture out to the SF valley then Wheel World in Woodland Hills (Not as good or knowledgeable as they used to be) has a decent selection. Cycology in Sherman Oaks is ok but small. H&S is another OK shop in the Burbank area.
