Wicked deal on wheels...
Right on the homepage at bikeroom.com there's a deal right now on a set of lx hubs and rhynolite wheelset(non-disk) for $70 canadian. YES, a set for $70!!! That's crazy! I ordered them today. I believe they also have xt disc hubs w/rhyno lites for $160 canadian.
Don't order any though or it'll slow down my order.

My lbs laughed at me when I asked if they could match it. The front wheel was $160 and back $180, which is about what I expected. They thought I was bs'ing and still don't believe me that I can get them for $70.

Yeah, but then you have to deal with bikeroom, who now apparently sticks mysterious charges on ones credit card. I've asked them to remove it two weeks ago still there, now I can't get through to them.

Just ordered - exactly what I was looking for! Hopefully they'll ship to Dublin

Cyclelogical recently rebuilt the rear wheel for ~40 EUR, apparently with stronger spokes, but after the rebuild I still have a nasty skip in the wheel. It's more noticeable at slower speed, where it almost jumps sideways. They said that to fix it would be costly, and that it wasn't dangerous or impairing the ride, so I could live with it.
I'm touring again in France at the start of September so I'm considering 2 options: 1) fly to France with the bike as-is, and purchase replacement wheels there, where it's cheaper, or 2) replace the rear now and the front later. I have a seriously limited budget at the moment due to moving house and upcoming tour, so that is a factor. City Cycyles in Fairview quoted ~160 for what he said were high-end rims, Deore hub and double-butted stainless steel spokes. As I'm getting to end-of-life on my Continental's sidewalls they need replacement too, so looking at ~200 (ouch). Think I'll see what "will do" that I can pick up in Decathlon in Paris.
Any comments?

Did you at least get your part? How long did it take? I've heard they can have lengthy shipping times. I was leary of ordering from them but $70 for that wheelset is too good to pass up.

Question: somewhat newbie here with a bent wheel on my Marin. Would this set work well for me. If it matters, I weigh 215 and want to make sure this set is ok to use?

Can use these if you have Disc brakes - https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/120...-Lite-Rims.htm

If you have Rim brakes then they would.

my last order from bikeroom took almost 3 weeks to get to me, when it only should have taken 1.5 at most. not only that, but they sent me the wrong tool. i got through on my first call and they set it right right away shipping me the correct tool - which got to me in only a couple days. so it makes me wonder sometimes...
bikeroom's been ok with me, only messing up the orders a couple times. no where close to some of the horror stories and complaints i've read about on other sites... the only crappy thing i've experienced is the long waits for my stuff to get to me.

Going off-topic, I suspect 1.5"s are the smallest slicks I can put on there (or can these rims handle 1.25" Specalized Fatboys?)

Called them (604 940 9799 sales option): "This mailbox is full, and cannot accept messages". Hmmm, well, we'll see how it goes. I may have to cancel the purchase with Amex.

Ok so if I want to get these through pricepoint how do I go about this? What do I have to tell them so they will match the price? And do they have the exact same thing?

The other shop I talked to wanted $100 for a DEORE wheel. You gotta watch those LBS guys. I expect to pay more at the LBS than online. But MAN ... those guys will **** you if you don't watch out.

Give PricePoint a call at 1-800-774-2376. Give them the item number of their LX/Rhino Lite wheelset and tell them that you are requesting a price match. Tell them that BikeRoom.com has the same wheelset for $58.63 (USD.) You may have to tell them the link to the ad on BikeRoom's site: https://www.bikeroom.com/Itemdesc.asp?CartId={E46FB076-08EF-412A-A56E-9447F7328B2B}&ic=BR%2DBKHOP1%2F2M4

I haven't been able to anyone at bikeroom via phone or email for 15 days now. I'm dealing with pricepoint, who I've had good experiences with before.

Bikeroom appears to be dead, I'm dealing with the credit card company now to reverse the mysterious bikeroom ripoff charge.

For the record, I received my LX Wheelset/SunRhyno-Lite Rims today - so about 6 weeks from Canada to Dublin (Ireland) via air shipping. At least I got 'em
Here's a log of my communications with bikeroom, hopefully it will help people here make informed decisions about whether to go with them or not. They didn't rip me off, and they did send my wheels, and for a great price. They are completely lacking in the "make the customer feel good about giving us money" area.
My frustrated dealings. Note that it was simply impossible to get a human to answer the phone on the many occasions I tried, mostly getting "mail box full" recorded messages.

Note: apparently air shipping is also 2-3 months - I should have saved and gone for ground!
