Crack Creak

Hey its john I've been mountain biking a lot here in delawar eand its hot. Thing is I've been ridin in the rain a lot and I seem to be having some trouble with my headset when I use the front brake, it sounds like its cracking. I'm pretty sure that it is not the fork I have a trek 6700 and a cane creek headset. How do I tighten it/ lube it so it doesn't make any noises. Thanks John
