Hi all, a quick question: I am set on buying the 203mm version of the Juicy 5 (front) but hearing stories about 203mm brakes breaking the hub if used with regular Q/R hubs I don't know what to do. The place where I want to buy them only have the 160mm for the rear, no front, have the 185mm version for both front and rear and the 203mm for front only. My question: Am I taking a big risk by getting the 203mm version? Or should I simply get the 185mm to reduce the risk? (what adapter would I need?)
(I'd be getting a new wheel with a decent hub by the way)

Thanks!

8in should be fine. I have run it on an old jrT for ages in that config

Great to hear! In the meantime, I asked a mechanic in a nearby bikeshop and he said as long as I have a decent hub (Deore+) and good spokes (DT Swiss, for example) it should be perfectly fine. The wheel setup I was looking at in Spain was Mavic 117 rims laced to a Deore (or LX, not sure) hub with DT Swiss spokes. :) I'll be placing my order in the following days. ;)

Thanks ;)

I've never seen or heard of hubs breaking and my group and I run 8 inch rotors all the time. The brand shouldn't make a difference. I'd say get the 203mm rotor set-up. You'll be fine, dude! (2 friends of mine even run with 8" rotors on their Hardrocks.)
