Agreed, that's the way I look at it too. Riding in urban areas and industrial wastelands can be tons of fun.

Nice video and tunes.....♫ maybe some Front Bottoms in the next one. They're good jersey boys and this video looks like it could have been made on the same overcast day, but with a road bike.

I used to love exploring around the forgotten fringes of the city when I was younger. Always sort of gravitated toward Jamaica Bay, personally.

yeah dirty jers baby. i used to skate the city a ton when i was younger but i gotta get out there on a bike and do some exploring.

I get away from urban areas when riding and certainly not going to ride by or through a smelly landfill.

The NY State DEC forced the local towns, including NYC to close all its landfills 30-40 years ago due to seepage from toxic chemicals into the ground water. Thus a half dozen or more were covered and capped. One in L.I. became an accessible park with hiking trails, but not for bikes. The two in Brooklyn, now called Shirley Chisholm State Park, got covered and has gravel trails installed where you can bike. It’s a very nice 10-12 mile gravel ride with great views.

The landfills are the last open spaces in most urban environments. They tried to fill in the San Francisco bay with garbage and demolition. Now it's one big landfill loop.

I didn't see any great views in that landfill video.

Ooofta. Makes me glad that I don't live in an urban environment.

right next to the landfill is a park, also like the other person said its capped so theres no smell really. i guess it depends what you define a great view, i like old infrastructure, i like wetlands, ton of bird species in that area year round, which is something im passively interested in while i bike. maybe its because im from around here and am also a skateboarder but visually im much more attracted to this type of stuff vs a conventional idea of a great view which i assume would be like a pristine mountain or river or something to that effect. but whatever, you dont gotta like it, go enjoy whatever it is you got dude. im all about using whatever space that you got, whether thats a landfill or a picturesque mountain with a brook trout stream running through it.
