Need help selecting the proper fork...
I currently ride a Gary Fisher Tassajara Disc and I love it...with the exception of the fork. The Manitou Black Elite that came with it seems too weak for me.
I am considering the Rockshock Duke SL for my bike. The biggest consideration I have is my weight. I am a nimble 235 +/- pounds and want a fork that will hold out. I had considered the Rockshock Psylo series but have heard too many reviews of the seals blowing out.
For the most part I do lots and lots of trail riding with a lot of jumping as well.
Anyhow any suggestions???

for how much you weigh..i wouldn't recommend you go w/ rockshox. they always seem to have crappy bushings w/ minor overlap. Go w/ Marzocchi's. I'm sure almost everyone will agree w/ me here...good luck.

DONT BY ROCK SHOX!!
im not anti rocks shox, they make awesome downhill forks (AHHH BOXXERS!!!) and the SIDS are great for XC but they are all elite shocks
There midrange / freeride shocks are pathetic, Dukes are crap, Judy's are crap, Psycho's... well there gettin better.
Get Marzocchi, something in the Z1 series or possibly dirt jumpers
thats my 2 cents
anyone want to give me some Boxxers.... its for a worth cause!!!

I'll second the notion to upgrade the springs in the Black, but I have to say, for your size and weight, you'll find that you'll be much happier with a Marzocchi fork.
At your weight (similar to mine!) you want to also stay away from air. Sure your coil spring/oil fork will be a little heavier, but if you (we) were concerned about weight, we'd loose some more of our own first!
I have owned numerous forks over the years and none have performed like my Marzocchi's. I'd buy either the Z-1 or the Z-3 if on a budget, I'd suggest the QR-20 thru axle for added stiffness. Your big frame (body) will flex a standard quick release hub to no end. You can stick with a standard (non-QR-20) if you use an oversized skewer like Specialize's Stout hub.
When you buy your fork, buy the X-Tra heavy springs and switch out the oil from the stock 5 wt to either a 7.5 or 10 wt. That's help the forks performance for your size.
