Sticky Front Suspension

I got my new Havoc 2005 just last week and theres this really sticky oil type substance on my forks where they go down into the legs in the fork. I was wondering what exactly is this and is it bad? Also Should I clean it off with something? If so, what? Whould just plane old water be good? Thanks guys!!!!!

What fork is on your Havoc? That's a great bike so I assume a pretty decent fork is on there. Is your fork new? If not, then the seals may be bad or old. I wipe oil off my stanchions with a rag and that's pretty much it. The important thing is to keep them clean or the oil attracts dirt which will rub your stanchions and seals.

I have an inverted fork where the stanchions are at the bottom so they are pretty proned to the occasional rock or wall banging them. I also replaced my seals because it was time since I've had the fork for a few years. I invested in some Lizard Skin fork boots to keep them clean and prolong the life of my new seals. If you can't get boots for the fork, at lest keep the stanchions cleaned off after/during every ride.

It's just grease the factory puts on the inside of the seals.
No need to do anything.
Don't worry and enjoy!

Its a SR Suntour T Triple clamp 130mm of travel. Ive I heard many people say that this is now a really good front fork, but I think otherwise. I think its a really good fork for dirt jumping. What do you guys think?
