You might mountain bike if...
-While driving you turn your neck 180 degrees to see a pedestrians bike.
-You get discharged from the hospital...and your on your bike the next day. (BOO YA!)

... if you say 'NO' to your girlfriend, because you are too tired

... if you don't go out with your friends, because you are biking, or cleaning your bike

... if your biking buddies don't want to bike with you, because you take them to hardest trails

yeah, i know that one!

you keep a stash of food at work and munch all day because of the monster appitite from so much riding -- and still loose weight - i'm again down to 155lbs at 6'1"

you choose flights based on the bike surcharge fee (and try as hard as possible to get those few with NO fee)

you consider any car that doesn't have lots of room for bikes (i.e. convertible or sports car) a waste (wagon with 4-bike roof-rack = good)

as winter approaches 2 of your top priorities/tasks are
1) good bike lights (my new one i just built is a 10Wflood+20Wspot+35Wflood=65W and 10Ah!)
2) when to put on the studded bike tires

About 5 years ago I was sucking my thumb, and my friend asked me what I was doing, and then I realized I was sucking my thumb and said "holy ****! I thought I still had my Camelback on, and I thought i was drinking from the tube!" I had that thing on so often i would be constantly drinking from it, like second nature. lol

I guess I thougth the thing was empty? kinda wierd in retrospect..

Mine:

- when I can hardly get in my car anymore because the bike is in the hatchback, the front wheel is on the passenger seat, and every other space is crammed with helmets, gloves, shoes, camelbacks and tools.

- when I feel almost naked because I don't have my helmet and gloves on.

- when I start to get that 'bike-junky' craving ('Hmmm. The bike's in the car and I still have 15 minutes left for lunch. I could do two fast trips down the bowl and still get to that meeting.')

- when it's 20 degrees f. with a bitter wind and every other sane person is inside doing something warm and I'm doing 'the last' (yeah, right) ride of the season by myself.

- when I've got five nasty sores trying to heal at the same time from five different nasty wipe-outs.

- when I do 'one (more) last' trip up the switchbacks before calling it a day, even though the 'last' trip up was the 'last trip up' and just about killed me because I'm so tired and about puked.

- when I go across the street to look at the junky bikes they have in the thrift store just to touch a brake lever.

- when I pass on some junk food I'm really craving because I want to stay primo for my next ride.

- since the list is endless, it's probably a sign that I bike too much!!!

I might be riding too much since:

My 2004 bike already has holes worn into the frame from the cable rubs....
I've gone thru 6 sets of disc brake pads & it's only September....
One pair of rotors have been worn too much to work properly (15 months)....
I've worn out my 3rd seat (literally wore the leather cover off) in 18 months....
I remember the location of practically every root-rock-stick along all the trails I ride....
I never take my bike off it's rack on the back of my Xterra.... (Except when I'm riding)
I make excuses to "go" riding, instead of "not" to go riding....
I've witnessed MANY people begin, get tired of & retire from the sport, while I'm still just enjoying it....
I have more bicycles that my entire neighborhood does....
I get VERY upset if I can't get in a ride at least every other day, year 'round....

I could easily go on, but who really cares, huh?
I'm NOT in denile.... I know I ride too much (for some people anyways....)

Too funny, I do or did this --- well some what or partly. I even drape my bike with a blanket ("my wife, calls it a baby blanket"). You don't want anyone to steal your ride, for sure.

Nope, that's why I leave mine dirty. Hell, it's old, anyway. If anyone broke into my car, they'd probably go for the toolbox first.
