med cage vs normal derailler?

Hey guys,

Bent my hanger and rear derailler last weekend, and i'm looking at getting a new one. My old one was a sram x-7, which was great. But now, do I get the same one, or upgrade to an x-9 (20$ more cdn). ALso the x-9 has a regular and medium cage. THe medium is only a few bucks more, are there any drawbacks to either one?

Thanks

i've read from a lot of people having problems with x-9 stuff. a lot of durability issues, like derailleurs blowing up for no apparent reason. everyone i've read from seem to have no problems with older x-9 stuff, with the x-7 or the x-0s - just the more recent batch of x-9s. if i were you, i'd stick with the x-7 or if you've got the money for it, x-0.

ooops....my bad, should have used the search......thanks for the link though, that explains it quite well. The X-0 is a little out of my price range though rasheed (and out of my skill range too, hehe), but thanks for the heads up on the newer x-9's. I'd really like to get the med cage, but either sram doesn't make the x-7 in a medium or the place i'm going to order it from doesn't have it. Anyone else having probs with the new x-9 medium cages?

Thanks again
