Mystery rubber objects
I just bought a new mountain bike, and two of these mystery objects came with it in the box. As you can see, they are round rubber thingies, marked Shimano, with a diameter of about 4cm (1.5 inches). I can't figure out what this is. Anyone have an explanation? They are probably part of the packaging, but I would really like to know.

Still kicking.
Bottom bracket dust covers I think.

first of all, it's not a "thingy." it looks more like a "dealie" to me...
it looks like the little rubber piece that covers up the centerlock splines for shimano's proprietary disc mounting system. if you're not running discs, you might want to put it back. if you are running discs...well, put 'em on a chain and make a necklace!
