That sucks! Kids are ******** sometimes. In MA last year, there were some kids who put some old tires in the road; they thought it would be funny. Anyways, this guy coming home to his family from work swerved around the tires hit a tree and died. It was terrible - the kids were 14, 15 years old, sentanced to prison as adults for manslaughter. Somtemes kids just think it'll be funny and really don't consider the repercussions - I used to throw iceballs at cars from behind a bush when I was like 12 years old. In retrospect, that was stupid, because someone could have slid and crahsed or something... but at the time I thought it was funny. Duhhh

well being a some what collector of knives myself i thought about brining my benchmade along next ride for show but quikley decided against it.

i have had a bad expeirence with jumping into fights, i got into an argument with someone who had freinds that would make me look reallly bad(older).

i am a buff kid, i bench 185, my best freind benches 210, and i know someone who pushes 240(he is a friggen beast) so next time they give me trouble i am droping my bike off and paying them a freindly visit.

i let them throw the first punch, 500 is not worth a sucker punch.

no way i was going to fight them with my bike there, if i get wreaked that bike is toast.

I'm surprised by the comments in this thread. Perhaps I'm surprised because I was raised and told not to retaliate to those "making fun of me" and "picking on me."

Beat up the kids? Pull out a switchblade? Carry a gun in your camelback? File a lawsuit? I hope you're kidding.

There's a difference between making fun of you and throwing rocks at you.

Ya some people are taking this a little extreme, I think its just important to know what you are getting into. Guns, knives, and lawsuits are not my kind of thing. Guns and knives = dead bodies, and lawsuits are supposed to be for only extreme cases. THere is no need to go to court over a rock thrown or a 200 dollar part. Pretty much if its enough to get in a fight over then go for it, but please keep weapons out of it.

there is no way i am bringing a knife or a gun to a fight. i like to think i have some street smarts, and i know good enough that guns plus bullets plus people plus blades equals a sketchy situation. and no lawyers, they cost money.

i am not going to beat them up, in my post i typed if they give me trouble again. and even if they do, i really dont want to get pinned with assualt.

i was also suprised with the comments to this post.

ha i was thinking what would i do if that happened, but it's never happened in the woods. everyone is my bud around here, cept one, i'd probably be throwin the stick then though. Cept when i urban @ campus all the frats say smart ass stuff, but if i call them gay it's funny because they hate being called it. they take it so serious it's funny. also when they call you gay and you don't care, that gets to them. it's funny because even if they are called gayed they are worried that i don't recognize their girlfriend in the pink polo with the popped collar and the playboy bunny and the dyed blonde hair. ahhh the fun of messin' with homophobs (i'm not gay tho )

Maybe it's time to stop looking so nerdy, and get a real pair of shorts.

So none of you were ever kids? None of you took Child Psychology, 101? They were all together, hiding from him and throwing rocks and sticks. Cowards! It's easy to act tough when you're surrounded by a group of like-minded peers. If he jumped off his bike and started to approach them, they would have scattered.

Now, if someone was standing in the middle of the trail, alone, and wouldn't let you pass, that's a whole other story.

agreed, the skin-tight, butt-hugging shorts dont do it for me either. Go get some athletic shorts and sliding pants for underneath.

It has not happened to me biking, but I surf and this kind of stuff happens all the time because my local breaks are crowded. One time a guy snaked me and put his fin through my board when turning. I politely requested the 60 dollars it would cost to repar and when he declined I simply snaked him on the next wave and snapped his board in half. I've accidentally damaged someone else's board before and had no problem fixing it or paying for it to be fixed, so I expected the same in return.

If its a few kids your age and they cause harm then confront them, but if they miss or just barely hit you then shrug it off. That way if they are another lawsuit happy a**hole you have something to show the court.
Thats what I do. If its like seniors (High school seniors) then I am just going to give the salute and ride on. But sophies like me, I'll confront them.
