Want to go fast!!!!!!
Hello everyone.
Im new to the bike scene and am planning to purchase my firs bike. Im willing to spend up to £350 on a mountain bike that is very fast on the road and has good suspension for when offroading. Could anyone advise me on the best bike for my needs.
People tell me that it is tyres that make a bike fast, but i always thought it was gearing. Could anyone fill me in on what actualy makes some bikes faster than others.
Thanks, Max

Riding position, Tyres, gears, they all matter, you could have the besr riding position, best gearing and highest system in the world, if youve got 3 inch gazzalodi tyres on there your not goin to go as fast as you would if you have racing tyres, slicks or smaller round profile mountainbike tyres.
As for a first bike for £350, there are a few, try the specialized Hardrock, a basic one is £250 i think, then you could use the money left over the switch the tyres if you arent happy with them.
Theres also the Kona L'ania, and in Halfords at the moment the fully disc equipped Kona fire mountain is down to £299 from £400
