Those trails look really nice. You ride on those rocky sections? Downhill? Uphill?

Dannihilator 06-22-07 06:20 PM

There is a line through it.

MrCrassic 06-23-07 09:04 AM

I just picked up this thread today, so I'll post what I did last weekend (sorry for the lateness).

Left Hoboken, took PATH to Christopher Street. Rode straight down West St. to about 130th Street, and then kept riding up to Yonkers.

Turned around when I found out that the Tappan Zee Bridge isn't pedestrian accessible, cross the George Washington Bridge, and went from Fort Lee back to Hoboken.

~45 miles.

Saturday the 23rd of June 2007.
It had rained.. alot a few days prior so everything was pretty muddy or underwater.

Took the "jeep" trail along the top of the flood damn
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1185/...5038d661ed.jpg

Off to my side we see the "pond" which is usually dry and has some really fun winding single track...unfortunately its under roughly 3 feet of water.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1157/...d661360b68.jpg

So I head down and off the damn and into some more single track and a few creek crossings (again usually dry)

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1315/...45aaf6279e.jpg

Deer everywhere (I hate deer..) and due to rain plenty of blooming nettle plants >.< fyi my legs where stinging after the ride.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1068/...af52ffb995.jpg

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1055/...69ff0b3799.jpg

So I was sick of mud and as you can see I don't have the right tires for it anyways.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1395/...d6bb0a4f2a.jpg

So I hit the paved trails back to my car.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1342/...cfbe37c15d.jpg

So I'm done the bikes dirty, I'm dirty and itchy.. pretty much a good ride.

Hi all.

Rode Monday afternoon at West Branch SP in NE Ohio. Fed flies my sunburnt flesh for a couple of hours, got Monocog 29 good'nmuddy, and had stone dead legs Tuesday. Great fun, good times.

Gotta remember a camera next time.

Well, I had my first real trail ride and it was great. I went throught the ice age trail with my brother. Once we found the entrance, my brother told me to go first since he already knew the trail so I started out an with in 5 min we came to the first downhill section. I wasn't expecting to much since this was my first time so I was in for a bit suprise. I took it to fast and had my back brake all the way down (skidding) and I wasn't slowing down. I just glided around the trees and rocks barrely missing them. I nearly got thrown off multiple times while going over rocks and dodging trees. I stayed on the whole way and when I got down I turned aroundt o find my older brother sslloowwlyy taking the hill with both brakes on. when he gets down he turns to me and says..... "oh, sorry, I forgot about that part"

(I will post some pics soon) It was the funnest thing I have ever done.

Did the Bicycle Post trail in Greenville (NC) today for the 2nd time in ~a week. I was the only one out there again. The trail was in good shape, a bit sandy in spots, but fun. I have a much better ride than my last one (3 OTB's and numerous other mishaps + a thunderstorm that rendered my v-brakes useless). All in all a fun ride - I even tried out my GPS tracking feature to see where I went (there's a bunch of loops and such). It was nice to see my insticnts kept me on the main trail. Still lacking the balls to pedal across a kinda' skinny bridge that spans a muddy creek ~3 feet below - maybe next time. I'll try to take some pictures next time I go out.

Rode just under 20mi last Saturday at Mohican SP. Great weather, and we only bailed on around 4mi of trails as we were running out of daylight.

Trails in incredible shape, and the newer sections that eliminate the need to use pavement to access next section rules. The final four miles are wicked fun.

Was just out in the Henderson-Swaysey Town Forrest in Exeter, NH.

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3...lrockgata0.jpg

In the dry that section isn't bad but with the wet rocks I ended up on foot patrol not just once, but twice after I called a mulligan and retried  My grade overall for the day was probably an F-. As soon as things get damp just how lousy your lines really are is clearly revealed to you.

I also ran into one of the techs at the local bike shop. He was riding probably twice as fast as I was, haha. I ought to work on that.

Rode the Bicycle Post Trail again today. Hot as HELL out there. Good thing I had to stop every so often to snap some pics!

Only ride since last weekend was my commute to/from work on the two-chainringed, Frankenbiked Monocog 29.

If it weren't s'posed to be like 90+F w/100%+ humidity today I'd probably be out there fedding the biting flies this afternoon at West Branch.

My wife and I rode Tamarancho, north of San Francisco over July 4th break. It was a beautiful day and the trails and scenery were great.

Well i cant drive myself to trails, and its school holidays. So im improvising. About lunch time today i went over the back fence to this reserve type thing. Its about 30 ish acres. Not a trail, but its fun to ride. Some logs and roots and whatnot to keep me occupied and out of troube for the day. Got muddy as heck. Its real misty in the morning this time of year and honestly at about 6 in the morning its like straight out of a movie with the fog/mist. Its quite epic. So im getting up early tomorrow for that. Will have pics for you all then.

iwantakona 07-14-07 04:39 PM

1) trail - Freedom Park
2) ride time - an hour and a half.
3) miles - not sure
4)trail conditions - not too dry not too wet.
6) summary- This was my first trip out on my new kona so I had a blast. Went riding by myself but made a few freinds at the trail head on my way out. It has a lot of up and downhills so It wasn't boring along with a few boardwalks nothing too hard but just enough to keep it interesting. Had a great time despite it being alreadt hot at 7 am when I started.

dinotekka 07-15-07 06:25 AM

1) trail -Yarra trails
2) ride time - roughly 2 hours.
3) miles -20
4) overcast, roughly 15-20 C
5) trail conditions - thick, slushy mud
6) summary - Well i got a new 07 Diamondback zetec sport yesterday and today would be my first ride on it. The ride started off with a 2 mile gravel main trail and the we got stuck into the tight, twisty, technical single track. With the trail covered in 2 inch deep mud i knew todays ride would be interesting. The red Michelin mud tyres were very impressive with great traction and the Rockshox reba sl worked superbly combined with Shimano deore components. Back onto the main gravel trail and then i dived into another singletrack. This one looped and went about 5 miles per lap(i rode it twice). Didnt end up falling today but really enjoyed the ride, and LOVED the new bike!

A couple pics from my ride at my local trails tonight...

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...7/P2233177.jpg

The trail goes through some tall grass. All I can think of when I ride through here is that scene from Jurassic Park 2 where the people are running through the grass and the velociraptors are chasing them down.

Captain Crash 07-25-07 06:14 PM

Today I went on an ex logging trail across the road from my house. It was roughly 3 miles, a nice XC trail with some sketchy downhill sections. My favorite part was when I was rolling real slow over a dried out creek bed, or so I thought. The mud was probably 1' deep and had the consistency of pudding or something. As soon the front went in, It sunk probably a good 5" I pulled the tire out, threw the bike into some tall grass on the other side, and jumped across myself.

After that, I rode over a 200ft long patch of rocks that stuck up roughly 9-12" going real fast. There was a nice downhill, probably 400ft long, and it scared the hell out of me. A tree was covering half of it, so I had to dodge around it and nearly wiped out.

fter that, I found out that this trail was a detour to the gas station in boswell. It was roughly 2 miles shorter, a big break for me. Now I don't need to ride so far for monster, and I also have a great place to ride. I found some single track that winds around, as well. The terrain was no problem, dual suspension helped a LOAD.

I'll post pics of the trail when I go back tomorrow.

If anyone near somerset PA wants to know where it is, pm me. I'll let you know.

Low quality picture of the place you can't physically ride over, gotta get off and push.

I'll post more later.
