weigh in on some aggressive xc/trail/am bikes
I'm looking to get an aggressive trailriding/all mountain bike. something light, but super sturdy to handle all the tech stuff i encounter out here. i've narrowed it down to four frames - wanted to get some people's opinions.
turner 5 spot
turner 6 pack
santa cruz blur lt
santa cruz heckler
thoughts?

Still kicking.
I'd go with the turner 5 spot. Such a nice frame.

the suspension on the turner is better. they are very good/strong frames. argueably the best production frames.
the santa cruz is also a good bike, but out of the two i would get the turner.

I would go with a horst link 6 pack or 5 spot. That would be an 05 frame. the 06 have a new suspension design (TNT) akin to what kona uses on their all mountain bikes. The design is fine but it is not ICT.
Either bike would be superb. make your choice based on travel length and weight/durability. Go to the MTBR turner forum to find out all you need to know about them.
I might add that any of the four frames you have listed there are pretty sweet. If you are into Santa Cruz have you considered the Nomad?

I just got an '05 Turner 5-spot and I have to say that it is an incredible bike. It is not the lightest frame out there but it is very durable and pedals really well. The bike will fool you into thinking that it is much lighter...Also, I really like the geometry of the bike. With a 130mm fork it has a 69 degree h/A and a 73.5 seat tube angle. This allows the bike to be stable on the downhills and the ST/A puts you right over the pedals making an easy bike to climb. I test rode a Santa Cruz Blur LT, and while it is a very good bike, I preferred the handling of the 5-spot.
One more thing that swayed me toward the Turner is there great customer service. Santa Cruz's hit or miss Customer service turned me off. Dealing with them when I was buying my V10 was not a fun experience.
