Giant Iguana

What you guys think about the Giant Iguana? Is it just a recreational bike, or can it take some serious riding??

CycleMON 10-08-02 05:36 AM

It should take some serious riding.:)

Get Kona Blast - it's the same price, but the specs are better. The frame materials is different though, I wonder if Giant has a tougher frame.

That set me wondering. Which is the stronger frame Kona or Giant??

That's the same thing I'd like to know. :)
I'm buying either Blast or Iguana (unless I'll find a better offer, i.e. used), but it will surely be Blast if Iguana's frame is not a lot better.

Depends on your ranking system of serious and recreational.

For normal riding in normal areas it can go hard. I know 3 people who broke them within a month because of the single track up here. But really they aren't built for that kinda of riding :)

MeHT 10-08-02 11:43 AM

Are you talking about Kona? I'm hoping on doing some XC.

Maelstrom 10-08-02 02:21 PM

Wow was I obtuse. No the iquana. :)...I never hear any complaints about Kona's around here. Except the higher end ones are underspec'ed ... but it is worth the sacrifice for tough. :)

i have an 02 giant iguana and all i can say is its a great bike...i also got upgrade fever..so far ive got new bars,grips,shifters,seat,rims,hubs,tires,185mm disks and it is a great bike...

only things to look out for are if you are planning on doing some hardcore bashin youll need some new rims and tires :)

That is not the case.

Iguana has similar parts for less.

Every knows Giants bikes are the best bang for the buck.

CASE CLOSED.

Iguana:

Blast:

In my LBS Blast will be $750 CDN. Iguana - $700-800. In the other LBS I saw Iguana '02 with a 'sale-price' of $750.
