After getting my bike back from the Local shop, i was told there was nothing wrong. I had brought it in because i was concerned about the rear end [ shock etc ]. On my way to do some arrands around town i dicovered an unusual vibration when pedaling. I cant tell if its the BB, something with the chain and sprokets or maby the pedals. I have just oiled the chain and things real good. Its not the hubs because i can only feel it when i pedal. Its seems as if one of my pedals has play, and also sounding rough. I am thinking if the gears are not set right, this could be the problem. I dont know how to check this myself. Its just weird how i am sure it didnt do this before i took it in. This doesnt prevent me from riding well, its just there and i dont know why its not smooth anymore. Its annoying me

anyhelp is good

thanks

Grab a crank arm and see if there is any lateral play (i.e. push and pull the crankarm on the non-drive side towards the drive side.) If there is any play, your bottom bracket is bad.

From what you described in your other post about not being able to pedal and now this I would go with my first suggestion in the other thread. Go look it up. :p Just kidding.

I still think you screwed your bb. You said you have found water in there which means it has been soaking the bb, the pedals don’t spin easily and now you are getting vibrations from it.

Here is what I think happened; when you landed from the drop something gave in the bb which sounded like the shock bottoming out. Since you thought it was the shock you became more in tune with what the shock was doing and started to hear all the regular noises it was making and got so concerned about it you neglected to check the bb. When you went to the shop you told them about the shock but did not ask them to check the bb (some shops you need to specify what you want them to check out).

Try this if you have the tools, remove the cranks from the bb spindle and try and spin the spindle with your fingers. It should spin very easily with virtually no drag. Then try and wiggle the spindle around, there should be no play at all. Then get a new bb ;)

I could be wrong since I can not see the bike first hand but that is what it sounds like.

Oh yeah, you could have really screwed up and cracked the frame near the bb, do a very close inspection of the area.

There is some play in both the BB and the pedals. I am pretty sure the frames not hurt
but it can be hard to spot damage. Your right about noticing more noises, as i started hearing the cables and things rubbing. Anyway there is play in these areas, as well as my front hub has some vibration, not serious but its still there. Its strange how these things are wearing so fast. The bike is not a year old yet, and i noticed play in the BB a few weeks after i got the bike. I dont have many tools, i will have to take it in again. I kind of miss the old shop i used to go to in my old town. You cant always trust every shop. At times it seems that some shops dont take you or your bike seriously. Maby its just me

Thanks
