are rotors interchangable
say if i were to buy a Avid or Hayes rotor, could i use it on my Grimecas, or say Avid on Hayes and vice versa. Basically are rotors interchangable between brands

Yeah they should, one of the few standards in the mtb world ar rotors. Basically all brands use the same bolt pattern, width and 6 or 8 inch rotors.

Well im going to assume your talking 160mm rotors....
Be that the case, you just need to concern yourself with the mounting holes. The standard is 6 holes. I believe one of these companies does a 5 hole rotor as well though, so check with that. There have been 3 and 4 hole rotors, but these are not common

For the most part they are however - and this is just what I've been told so you'll have to do your own research - I've heard that the caliper width on a couple of the rotors varies ever so slightly. I know that Hayes and Avid run the same width (I'm running an Avid 7" rotor on the front of my bike with Hayes HFX Mag brakes) but I'm not sure about the others.
